2027: APC Youth Stakeholder Writes President Tinubu, Alleges Marginalization and Disconnect from Grassroots

Adunola Toyin, an ardent supporter of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu since his early political days and Chairman of “Pragmatic Elite For Asiwaju (PREFA),” a support group reportedly spanning 27 states across Nigeria and with diaspora chapters in the United States and United Kingdom, has penned an open letter to the President.

The letter, which she describes as an “Awareness and Open Letter,” expresses deep concerns over what she perceives as the marginalization of loyal grassroots mobilizers and a disconnect between some ministers and appointed officials and the “Renewed Hope” agenda at the local level.

In her letter, Adunola Toyin, who identifies as one of the earliest “Pro-Asiwaju Teenagers,” stated her unwavering belief in President Tinubu’s vision and political sagacity. She emphasized her long-standing preference for him in the Southern political space, crediting her father’s mentorship for her deep political enlightenment.

However, she raised a critical alarm regarding the performance of some of the President’s appointees. While commending Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, the Director-General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), and the Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, for selling the works of Renewed Hope administration to the grassroots vigorously and giving Nigerians optimal service delivery, she stated that “we really cannot say much of others saddled with the responsibility of COMMUNICATION or better said, Explanation.”

The NOA, as a key agency, is mandated to disseminate government policies, mobilize public opinion, and foster national unity and patriotism.

Adunola Toyin directly accused a large number of those lurking around the President of possessing “greedy lots, power usurpers, users & dumpers” qualities. She recounted the sacrifices made by her support group, PREFA, which she said is duly registered with the APC Federal Headquarters, in ensuring President Tinubu’s victory in the 2023 general elections.

She mentioned that their mobilization efforts traversed 27 states, extending even to Chatham House in the UK, where her members were well stationed to welcome the President.

She lamented the personal cost of these efforts, revealing that PREFA “lost one of our state coordinators” during their nationwide campaign. Despite these sacrifices, she expressed profound disappointment at the lack of appreciation from the President’s “trusted team.”

She alleged absolutely nothing in terms of “reimbursement of financial resources expended,” “pat on the back,” or “national recognition” to enable her to contribute her “diligence, astuteness and expertise to Nation building.”

Furthermore, Adunola Toyin criticized the appointment process, alleging that mediocrity set in and that President’s team discarded them and went to source from the opposition, the saboteurs, those that never lifted a finger to ensure his victory, individuals who never influenced an ant in favor of him… those were the set of people that became the firsthand choices of those Men whom YOU SOLELY MADE from your Large heart and benevolence, she said.

She challenged the President to critically assess his team, asking, “is 70% percent of those steering the wheels of the Nation with you truly like minds? Are they really working in tandem with your prints and vision? If YES, Where is the fire in them? OR, are those appointments their Birth Right?”

Looking ahead to the 2027 re-election campaign, Adunola Toyin delivered a stern warning on behalf of her support groups: “No drop of sweat 💦 or financial resources of mine nor that of all the support groups registered under my umbrella will be expended for your 2nd term campaign or re-election not because we despise you for any reason, But for the usual unrepentant, arrogant, Power usurpers and Greedy lots that have positioned themselves around you. Those who would leave your die-hard, merited faithfuls in the wilderness and bring aboard those who never wished you well to work with you.”

While pledging to continue propagating the President’s works “Pro-Bono in the little way we can,” she firmly stated, “we refuse to be used, drained and dumped as usual going forthwith.” She concluded by expressing gratitude for the President’s attention and hoping for “a better treatment and swift intervention.”
