The Kwara State Government has announced the successful conclusion of the foundational phase of its ambitious Kwara Coding & Digital Literacy Programme, marked by a comprehensive statewide assessment. This initiative, designed to equip students with essential digital skills, is a key component of the state’s mission to foster a digitally proficient, future-ready generation.
Out of an initial target of 7,500 students across 50 public secondary schools in Kwara’s 16 Local Government Areas (LGAs), a total of 5,603 students have successfully completed the foundational training.
A significant achievement noted in the program is the impressive gender balance, with 2,604 males (46.5%) and 2,999 females (53.5%) participating, effectively closing the gender gap in tech education.
Geographically, Ilorin West LGA recorded the highest participation with 829 students, while Ekiti LGA had the lowest enrollment of 173 students.

A senatorial breakdown reveals:
* Kwara Central: 2,095 students (37.4%)
* Kwara North: 1,322 students (23.6%)
* Kwara South: 2,186 students (39%)
The program’s reach extended to 35 out of the 50 participating schools across all three senatorial districts, which have now completed their digital literacy sessions.
Students demonstrated strong proficiency in fundamental digital skills, including basic computer operations, productivity tools, internet usage, and critical thinking.

The assessment results underscore the program’s effectiveness in imparting 21st-century digital skills crucial for academic and career advancement.
The Kwara Coding & Digital Literacy Programme is now poised to transition into its next phase, the Summer Edition. This advanced module will delve into hands-on coding, innovation thinking, and real-world problem-solving, aiming to transform students from mere consumers of technology into active creators.
This strategic move is designed to prepare Kwara’s youth to compete and thrive in the global digital economy.
This significant progress is attributed to the visionary leadership of the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, CON. His administration continues to prioritize youth empowerment, digital innovation, and inclusive development, with a clear commitment to building digital infrastructure and investing in human capital for measurable and sustainable impact.
As the state anticipates the Summer Edition, the focus remains steadfast on unlocking new possibilities and shaping a technologically driven future for the youth of Kwara.
