FG Introduces N10 Million Loan Scheme for Tertiary Institution Staff

The Federal Government has launched the Tertiary Institution Staff Support Fund (TISSF) to provide financial relief and promote professional development for academic and non-academic staff in Nigeria’s universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education.

Announced by the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, and detailed by the ministry’s spokesperson Mrs. Folasade Boriowo, the initiative allows eligible staff to access loans of up to ₦10 million, capped at 33.3% of their gross annual salary.

The fund can be used for transportation, medical needs, or small ventures such as poultry farming. The Bank of Industry (BOI) will manage the disbursement to ensure transparency and accountability.

TISSF is part of the administration’s broader agenda to reposition the tertiary education sector, strengthen the capacity of its workforce, and enable staff to contribute more effectively to institutional excellence. It follows earlier steps like the ₦50 billion released in April 2025 to settle outstanding earned allowances for federal university workers.

This scheme is yet another bold step under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, reaffirming his commitment to transforming education, empowering professionals, and restoring dignity to Nigeria’s workforce.
