TETFund Board Member, Engr. Nurudeen Visits NOUN, Abuja On Familiarisation Tour

As part of his ongoing familiarisation visits to tertiary institutions across the North Central geopolitical zone, Engr. Nurudeen Adeyemi, a member of the Board of Trustees (BOT) representing the region at the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), paid a courtesy visit to the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN), Abuja.

During the visit, Engr. Adeyemi reaffirmed TETFund’s unwavering support for the university, acknowledging NOUN’s unique role as the largest university in Nigeria with a vibrant community of over 170,000 students.

“This institution is very critical to our nation’s development. That is why successive leaderships at TETFund have consistently prioritised NOUN, and I can guarantee the same continued support under the leadership of the BOT Chairman, Rt. Hon. Aminu Bello Masari, and the Executive Secretary, Arc. Sonny Echono,” he said.

Engr. Adeyemi further restated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to education in Nigeria, assuring that no institution will be left behind in terms of developmental consideration. He also noted that the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, has remained uncompromising in his drive to elevate the performance and viability of the country’s tertiary institutions.

The visit included a supervisory tour of ongoing TETFund interventions, especially in the area of physical infrastructure aimed at strengthening institutional capacity and enhancing curriculum delivery.

In his remarks, the Vice Chancellor of NOUN, Prof. Olufemi Peters, expressed appreciation to TETFund for its all-encompassing support, describing the university as a true “TETFund institution.”

“The development of research in Nigeria is largely credited to TETFund. Before the Fund made it a focus area, research in our institutions was mostly reduced to mere publications. Now, it drives innovation and development,” Prof. Peters noted.

He also commended TETFund for its contributions to NOUN’s library systems, revealing that the university now boasts the largest e-library in the country, thanks to the Fund’s interventions.
