The Kwara South Unity Group (KSUG) continued its high-stakes consultation tour on Tuesday, taking its campaign for the “Igbomina Lokan” (It’s Igbomina’s Turn) agenda to the palaces of the Olomu of Omu-Aran, Oba Abdulraheem Oladele Adeoti, and the Olupako of Share, Oba Olawale Haruna Ilufemiloye.
The group is advocating for the Igbomina bloc to produce the next Senator for Kwara South in the 2027 general election.
The delegation, comprising members from all seven local government areas and the three major political blocs (Igbomina, Ibolo, and Ekiti) of the senatorial district, emphasized the need for fairness and equity in political representation.
According to the group, this rotational arrangement is crucial for strengthening unity and cohesion in Kwara South.

Speaking at both palaces, Hon. Adebayo Jimoh Alao, a former Chairman of Oyun Local Government who led the delegation, explained the historical context. He noted that the Ekiti bloc had held the senatorial seat for 12 years, and with the current occupant, Senator Lola Ashiru, completing his second term, the Ibolo bloc would have also spent 12 years. Based on this, he argued, it is only fair for the Igbomina bloc to have its turn.

The KSUG leaders not only pushed for an Igbomina Senator but also unanimously endorsed Engineer Nurudeen Adeyemi Balogun as their preferred candidate.
Dr. Babatunde Salami, a former Chairman of Ifelodun Local Government, noted that the group had done extensive research on prospective candidates and found Adeyemi to be the most suitable. He praised Adeyemi’s loyalty to the progressive cause and his extensive philanthropic contributions to the region.
Engr. Tunde Fadipe, a former Chairman of Isin Local Government, warned against supporting emergency politicians, describing them as “apprentices” who could become unreachable and inaccessible. He stated that Engr. Adeyemi, a tested and trusted figure, possesses all the qualities to provide quality representation for the people of Kwara South.
Hon. Shade Olanrewaju, speaking on behalf of the women’s caucus, declared their support for the “Igbomina Lokan” agenda and for Adeyemi’s candidacy. She described the aerospace engineer as relentless, humble, and good-natured, asserting that he would make the people of Kwara South proud.
In their separate responses, both the Olomu of Omu-Aran, Oba Abdulraheem Oladele Adeoti, and the Olupako of Share, Oba Olawale Haruna Ilufemiloye, commended the group for its efforts to promote unity. They acknowledged the importance of fair representation and promised to support any initiative aimed at advancing the development and growth of the senatorial district.
The monarchs, however, urged the group to remain focused, work together, and commit their efforts to God’s hands.
9japarrot reports that this series of consultations with traditional rulers is part of a broader strategy by the Kwara South Unity Group to secure a consensus among key stakeholders ahead of the 2027 election.
