As part of his ongoing familiarisation visits in the Federal Capital Territory, the Board of Trustees (BOT) member representing the North Central geopolitical zone at the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), Engr. Nurudeen Adeyemi, has visited the African Aviation and Aerospace University to assess TETFund interventions in the institution.
Engr. Adeyemi, who is himself an Aerospace Engineer, expressed optimism about the immense potential of the institution. He commended the pace of development and growth in both academic content and physical infrastructure, describing it as encouraging and strategic to Nigeria’s aerospace aspirations.
In his remarks, he urged the management of the university to prioritise expansion and ensure that every milestone in its growth is well documented. According to him, the institution holds a critical role in positioning Nigeria as a competitive player in the global aviation and aerospace industry.
While reiterating President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s passion for education and commitment to creating an enabling environment for institutions and talents to thrive locally and globally, Engr. Adeyemi noted that the ongoing reforms in the education sector, led by the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, can be described as “surgical” — aimed at strengthening the sector to meet both present and future national aspirations.
He further reaffirmed TETFund’s commitment under the leadership of Rt. Hon. Aminu Bello Masari and the Executive Secretary, Arc. Sonny Echono, to the development of all tertiary institutions in Nigeria. He stressed that the Fund has never shied away from providing the necessary support to ensure institutions deliver on their mandates.
During the visit, the BOT member inspected ongoing projects at the university’s permanent site, including existing facilities and academic resources.
In his response, the Registrar of the Institution, Mr. Mustapha Sheikh Abdullahi, commended Engr. Adeyemi for the visit and appealed for continued and enhanced support for the university, particularly given his professional background in aerospace engineering.
