A new political legacy platform, _SARDAUNA GERI FORUM,_ was on August 15th, 2025 officially inaugurated by the _Executive Chairman of Irepodun,_ Hon. Abdulazeez Yakubu at the Irepodun Local Government Secretariat Hall, Omu-Aran. The Forum was created in honor of the Executive Governor of Kwara State and Chairman of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq (CON), who holds the prestigious traditional title of SARDAUNA GERI OF ILORIN.
The Forum is designed as a legacy movement for staunch loyalists of the Governor, aimed at sustaining their unwavering loyalty and political support for Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq even beyond his tenure as Governor of Kwara State. Members of the Forum have pledged their readiness to stand firmly with the Governor in whatever political ambition or leadership role he chooses to pursue in the future.
Declaring the Forum open, the Executive Chairman of Irepodun Local Government, Hon. Abdulazeez Yakubu, described the movement as a historic development in the political landscape of Kwara South. He emphasized that Irepodun’s inauguration marked the first in Kwara South Senatorial District, following the successful establishment of the Forum across all local governments in Kwara Central.
The overall Coordinator and Irepodun Anchor Person of the Forum, retired Major General Abdulazeez Abidoye, in his address, explained that the SARDAUNA GERI FORUM is more than just a political platform. He noted that it is a symbol of loyalty, gratitude, and continuity for the leadership qualities and achievements of Mallam Abdulrahman AbdulRazaq.
Also speaking, the Speaker of the Irepodun LGA Legislative Council, Hon. Muritala Omogoye, accompanied by the Councillor representing Ajase Ward II, affirmed his support for the Forum and assured that he would always be part of it, describing himself as a complete loyalist of the Governor. He praised the brains behind the Forum for their foresight and vision.
The leadership structure of the Forum in Irepodun includes respected political figures such as:
Chief Raphael Awotunde – Treasurer
Chief Barr. Atolagbe – Legal Adviser
Chief Bolare Adedoyin – Protem Secretary
To ensure grassroots inclusion, the Forum also appointed coordinators for the youths and women:
Hon. Mrs. Sanusi – Female Youths Coordinator
Hon. Femi Ajide – Male Youths Coordinator
In addition, every ward within Irepodun Local Government has been assigned two coordinators (one male and one female) to drive the vision of the Forum and ensure equal participation across gender and age groups.
The inauguration attracted a large turnout of party faithfuls, community leaders, and youths who pledged their total commitment to the Governor’s legacy. It was seen as a strong statement of the Governor’s enduring influence in Irepodun and Kwara South at large.
The SARDAUNA GERI FORUM is expected to play a pivotal role in mobilizing grassroots support, strengthening political unity, and ensuring the continuity of Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq’s legacy of inclusive governance and progressive leadership in Kwara State.
