In fulfilment of his earlier pledge to back grassroots security operatives, frontline APC stalwart and community developer, Engr. Nurudeen Adeyemi Balogun (ENACT), has delivered financial support to families of vigilantes from Kwara South who either lost their lives or sustained injuries while defending their communities against criminal attacks.
Through this intervention, the families of fallen vigilantes each received ₦250,000 while injured personnel received ₦100,000 respectively—bringing the total sum disbursed to ₦600,000. This is part of Engr. Adeyemi’s ₦10 million Security Trust Fund initiative aimed at recognizing and sustaining the heroism of local hunters, vigilantes, and forest guards who operate at the frontline of community security.
This support comes on the back of Engr. Adeyemi’s earlier call for greater recognition of local security operatives. In his recent statement, he had commended Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s multi-agency security strategy, which has seen the donation of 32 patrol vehicles, 160 off-road motorcycles, and sustained engagement with security chiefs, local leaders, and traditional rulers to restore peace in affected communities.
“While the state government already extends death benefits to military and police personnel who fall in active duty, it is equally important that our vigilantes and hunters—who are the backbone of grassroots security—are not left behind. They deserve our recognition, support, and protection,” Engr. Adeyemi had noted.
Last week, a delegation representing Engr. Adeyemi—including Hon. Ishola Kayode (SA to the Governor on Digital Innovation), Baba Oyin Zubair Olaitan (community development expert), and Hon. Sulaiman Dudu (APC State Youth Leader)—visited Ganmu, Olohuntele Temidire, Oreke Okeigbo, and Babanla communities in Ifelodun Local Government to commiserate with victims of recent attacks and assure them of the government’s unwavering commitment to restoring peace. The delegation also took inventory of losses suffered by affected households.
The latest disbursement, therefore, demonstrates that the promise made has been kept. Beyond rhetoric, Engr. Adeyemi, through ENACT, has shown that collective responsibility is key in tackling security challenges — aligning community efforts with the bold interventions of Governor AbdulRazaq’s administration.
“As a people, we must all join hands with the government and security agencies in the fight against insecurity. This is not the time for divisive rhetoric but for unity of purpose. Together, we can defeat criminality and protect our future,” Engr. Adeyemi reiterated.
He further assured residents of Kwara South that the APC-led administration under Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq remains committed to safeguarding lives and properties, with ongoing military and security operations already underway to clear the forests and restore normalcy.
