The Kwara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) held a vital stakeholders’ meeting on Saturday to strategize on the ongoing Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) exercise.
The event, which took place at Arca Santa Arena in Ilorin, brought together party dignitaries, House of Assembly members, and the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly.
In his remarks, the Kwara State APC Chairman, Prince Sunday Fagbemi, underscored the importance of the CVR, describing it as a fundamental civic duty and the bedrock for sustaining the party’s “winning streak” in Kwara and across Nigeria.
“It is with immense pride and renewed vigour that I stand before you today,” Prince Fagbemi stated.
“As we navigate the dynamic landscape of Nigerian politics, the clarion call of our time is clear: unity, action, and foresight. Today, I urge every one of you to take the lead in mobilizing Kwarans for the ongoing voter registration exercise.
Let us inspire our people to register en masse as a matter of civic duty.”
Prince Fagbemi highlighted the achievements of the APC-led government under the leadership of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. He cited impressive strides in infrastructural development, human capital empowerment, and rural transportation, noting that strong foundations have been laid for the future through significant investments in education, healthcare, agriculture, and other key sectors.
The Chairman also expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for the administration’s support to Kwara State, particularly commending the continued funding of tax credit road projects such as the Bode Sadu-Kaima-Kosu-Bosu expressway and the Eyenkorin-Ojoku-Offa-Atun expressway. He also mentioned the state’s benefit from a number of high-profile appointments under the current federal administration.
Adding to the call to action, Alhaji Muhammed Babatunde Yusuf, a former director of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), provided a critical breakdown of the CVR process and the importance of security awareness.
“Anyone above 18 years is eligible to register for a voter’s card,” Alhaji Yusuf clarified.
He announced that the CVR exercise allows for amendments to voter cards, including name or date of birth changes, and the registration of new voters. He noted that the period for these services is from August 18, 2025, to August 18, 2026.
The event concluded with a strong call for all eligible Kwarans to participate in the registration exercise to ensure their voice is heard in future elections.
