The Kwara State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Mr. Onifade Olaoluwa Joshua, has announced the temporary relocation of the Batch ‘B’ Stream II orientation camp to the Kwara State Polytechnic campus in Ilorin.
The move, which was approved by the state government is a direct response to rising security concerns at the scheme’s permanent site in Yikpata, Edu Local Government Area.
During a press briefing on Thursday, Mr. Onifade disclosed that the decision was made to ensure the safety of prospective corps members, citing threats from what he called “perpetrators and enemies of progress.”
He assured both corps members and their parents that adequate security measures have been put in place, with armed soldiers and other security personnel to be deployed at the temporary venue throughout the three-week exercise.
The safety of corps members is our top priority and we are fully prepared to host a hitch-free and successful orientation course, Onifade stated.
He expressed his gratitude to both the federal and state governments for their prompt intervention and support in approving the relocation. The orientation camp is scheduled to run from Wednesday, September 24, to Tuesday, October 14, 2025.
According to the coordinator, various assignment heads have already begun preparations to receive the new batch of corps members.
To ensure the temporary site is fit for purpose, the Director-General of NYSC, Brigadier General O.O. Nafiu, has directed Mrs. Abiodun Oluwaremilekun, Director of the South West Area Office I, to conduct a comprehensive inspection and evaluation of the Kwara State Polytechnic campus.
