Kwara South Development: Prof. Wale Sulaiman CON Calls for Unity, Constructive Dialogue, and Mutual Respect

APC Chieftain and Pro-Chancellor/Chairman, Governing Council of the Federal University of Health Sciences, Ila-Orangun (FUHSI), Prof. Wale Sulaiman, CON, has applauded the collective efforts of multiple groups and associations in Kwara South for their commitment to unity and regional development.

Prof. Sulaiman expresses excitement about the growing spirit of self-determination, strategic dialogue, and stakeholders engagement in fostering transformational development across the senatorial district. He, however, urges for concerted efforts devoid of unnecessary distractions and brinkmanship, stressing that unity remains the bedrock of progress.

He emphasizes that “Kwara South is known for progressive politics and leadership. As Omoluabi, nurtured in Yoruba ethics and values, we must continue to respect ourselves, respected Elders, political Leaders, political office holders and most importantly, our revered traditional institutions”.

He commended the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, CON, for what he describes as “amazing strides in purpose-driven governance,” noting that leadership is ultimately judged by legacy, and the Governor is laying an undoubtable foundation for posterity and economic development in Kwara state. His Excellency is creating an undoubtable legacy that only the unrepentant critics would deny it.”.

On regional development, the globally renowned neurosurgeon and community development advocate noted: “Health, water, and food are the essentials of human survival, but beyond these, what truly connects us all is the yearn for economic opportunities. We must prioritize job creation, industrialization and innovations over division. What unites us is far greater than what divides us.” he said.

Prof. Sulaiman further urges leaders to remain accountable and transparent in their dealings. He calls for a disruptive approach to development, leveraging technology (including AI technology) to create a new crop of tech-savvy youths, earning tangible incomes via remote work opportunities. He stated “Our youth can earn a living globally while working locally,” referencing the global economic impact of companies like Uber, Amazon etc through creations of millions of jobs around the world.

On security, he stresses the importance of actor-partite community–government–private sector partnerships, urging citizens to take proactive steps in identifying and confronting criminal elements in their localities. Creation of economic opportunities is one of the best strategies to combat insecurity.

Finally, Prof. Sulaiman commends President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for recognizing the potential of Kwarans through critical national appointments, urging leaders and appointees from Kwara South to leverage their positions to deliver tangible development to the region and kwara state.

End.
