The Igbonna community witnessed a dual celebration on Sunday as Hon. Opeyemi AbdulHafiz was officially installed as the Otunba Bobajiroro of Igbonna by the Onigbonna of Igbonna, Oba Abubakar Adeshola Sholadoye.
The installation ceremony was a significant part of the activities marking the 10th anniversary of Oba Sholadoye’s reign.
Otunba Opeyemi AbdulHafiz, a respected community figure, received numerous accolades for his profound impact and contributions to the town’s development. The event drew a large gathering of local residents and dignitaries who came together to celebrate the monarch’s decade of exemplary leadership and to honour the newly installed Otunba.
The title, Bobajiroro, which translates to “The one who plans or strategises with the King,” acknowledges Otunba Opeyemi’s dedication to the progress of Igbonna and officially recognizes his role in advising and supporting the traditional institution.
Over the years, Otunba Opeyemi has been a strong pillar and support for many families in Igbonna and the neighboring communities that share its borders. His philanthropic efforts and commitment to community development have helped improve lives, making him a respected figure among the town’s inhabitants.
In his address during the ceremony, Oba Abubakar Adeshola Sholadoye praised Otunba Opeyemi as a quintessential community leader, whose dedication and selflessness to the welfare of his people are unparalleled. The king encouraged the newly appointed Otunba Bobajiroro to persist in his good works and pledged his prayers for Otunba Opeyemi’s longevity and continued prosperity. The heartfelt words of the Onigbonna underscored the high expectations held for him in his new role.
In response, Otunba Opeyemi AbdulHafiz expressed deep gratitude to Oba Sholadoye for his unwavering commitment to the community and for acknowledging him as one of Igbonna’s esteemed sons. He reassured the audience of his ongoing support and dedication to the betterment of the town and its residents, vowing to uphold the values of leadership and service.
The investiture was further adorned by the presence of family, friends, and notable figures from various sectors. Among the distinguished guests were the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Hon. Salihu Yakub Danladi, as well as the chairpersons of Moro and Oyun Local Government Areas, the Ilorin South LG chairman, and the Commissioner for Works in Kwara State, among many other prominent individuals, all celebrating this auspicious occasion with Otunba Opeyemi AbdulHafiz. Their attendance not only highlighted Otunba Opeyemi’s stature but also signified the collective support for his future endeavors in advancing the community of Igbonna.
