NACCIMA Raises Alarm Over PENGASSAN Strike Threat, Demands Urgent Dialogue

The Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) has voiced deep concern over the looming nationwide strike threatened by the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) concerning its dispute with Dangote Refinery.

NACCIMA in a statement issued by the National President, Engr (Dr.) Jani Ibrahim on Monday and made available to 9japarrot warned that a failure to urgently address the conflict could severely impact Nigeria’s stabilizing economy by disrupting energy supply, paralyzing transportation and manufacturing, and weakening public services across the country.

“A nationwide shutdown in the energy sector at this time would be a crippling blow to Nigeria’s stabilizing economy,” said the National President.

“The business community is alarmed at the possible consequences for jobs, inflation, and investor confidence. Dialogue is not optional; it is urgent and necessary.”, the statement added.

“On behalf of the Nigerian business community, we are calling for immediate intervention” Jani added.

The group outlined its position as follows;

•We call on the Federal Government, PENGASSAN, and Dangote Refinery management to return to the negotiation table immediately.

•Industrial peace and constructive dialogue are critical to protect livelihoods, restore investor confidence, and safeguard Nigeria’s refining capacity.

•NACCIMA stands ready to support and, if necessary, facilitate dialogue in the national interest.

The association concluded that the potential strike is a clear and present danger to the nation’s economy and urged all parties to prioritize the national interest.
