Amofin Akogun Condemns Relocation of State Institutions from Kwara South

••• Demands Immediate Reversal

Amofin Titilope Akogun, President of the BTA Foundation, has issued a strong condemnation of the deliberate relocation of state institutions from Kwara South to Ilorin, labeling the move as an intentional act of sabotage and calculated injustice.

The foundation’s statement, released on Saturday and made available to 9japarrot media, directly challenged the Kwara State Government, arguing that the recent relocation of the Kwara State College of Nursing, Oke-Ode, under the guise of insecurity, is part of a pattern designed to keep Kwara South perpetually disadvantaged.

Amofin Akogun highlighted a perceived systemic effort to strip the Southern and Northern parts of the state of development-promoting institutions, while concentrating them in Ilorin, the state capital.

Amofin cited two recent examples of College of Nursing, Oke-Ode, recently relocated to the state capital weeks after orchestrated insecurity was cited as justification and the State University of Education, noting that the proposed university was relocated to Ilorin, despite the availability of existing infrastructure in Oro.

Akogun asserted that while there have been long-standing complaints of neglect in the development of Kwara South and North compared to the Central Senatorial District, the current administration has gone further by emptying the regions of the few institutions that promote growth, education, and opportunity.

The BTA Foundation President labeled the pattern as wickedness of the highest order and issued a fierce call to action for the region.

“Kwara Southerners must resist this continuous marginalisation and systemic weakening of our region. We cannot afford to watch in silence as the little we have is taken away and never returned.”, He said.

Akogun specifically urged traditional rulers and all elected and appointed Kwara South officers to intervene immediately and work to reverse the relocation decisions.
