Our attention has been drawn to misleading and malicious information being circulated online, falsely portraying Senator Sadiq Suleiman Umar (representing Kwara North Senatorial District) as one who downplays the worsening insecurity situation in the region.
This desperate attempt by certain negative elements to twist the Senator’s genuine call for action and collaboration during a Plenary session as he has consistently done into a political smear campaign is not only dishonest but deeply insensitive to the plight of our people.
The Senator, during his contribution on the floor of the Senate in support of a motion raised by Sen. Lola Ashiru (Kwara South), reaffirmed his commitment to the safety and security of all Kwarans by drawing the attention of relevant authorities and security agencies to the challenges faced by communities in Kwara North and other parts of the state. His submission was one of responsibility, empathy, and leadership calling for more government intervention and support to bring succour to affected areas.
To distort such a genuine effort into a narrative of indifference exposes the true intentions of those behind this campaign of blackmail – individuals more interested in cheap political points than in the peace and progress of our region. They are, in fact, the real enemies of Kwara North. Through their actions, they mock the sacrifices of our gallant security officers, and make jest of the blood and tears of families who have lost loved ones in the fight to secure our communities.
We therefore caution the public, especially the youths, against being used as tools in the hands of divisive elements. This is not the time for misinformation or political rivalry; it is a time for unity, understanding, and collective effort to restore lasting peace across Kwara North and the State at large.
Senator Sadiq Suleiman Umar remains unwavering in his commitment to securing help and fostering collaboration with all tiers of government, security agencies, and stakeholders to ensure peace, stability, and development return to our region.
We urge all well-meaning Kwarans to disregard the false narratives being circulated. Truth, as always, will prevail.
Insha Allah, this too shall pass, and our collective resolve for a safer, stronger Kwara North will stand firm.
