
The political landscape in Kwara South is heating up as Honorable Harry Ilori, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) aspirant for the Federal House of Representatives, officially unveiled his 2027 mission with a major youth summit held at Ifaja Hall, Omuaran, Irepodun Local Government Area, on Thursday.
The dual summit, themed “Youth Involvement in Kwara South Politics and Mission for 2027,” and “Women Involvement in Kwara South Politics and Mission for 2027,” was organized by Ilori to canvas support from young people and women in the Ekiti/Oke-Ero/Isin/Irepodun federal constituency, who he described as the engine and a great factor in Nigeria’s democracy.
Youth Support is Crucial, Says Ilori
Addressing hundreds of youth leaders, Honorable Ilori pledged his commitment to the younger generation, both before and after the 2027 general elections, emphasizing the need for unity in the constituency.
“I am here today to inform you and canvass for your support and opinions, and to officially declare my intention. I painstakingly decided to meet you all as my first point of contact because you, the youths, are the engine and a great factor in our democracy,” Ilori stated.
“I can’t do anything without the youth’s support; you’re our future.” He added
The aspirant commended the party’s youth structure, led by the newly elected Kwara South Senatorial Youth Leader, Mallam Suleiman Ganiyu Kehinde, for reawakening the party’s activities.
The event featured lectures and remarks from key political stakeholders, who unanimously stressed the importance of youth involvement in politics for progress.
Hon. Chief Bode Ogunleye, a former council chairman and recognized Kwara political stakeholder, spoke passionately on the vital role of young people in shaping the community’s future.
Ogunleye also used the platform to praise the leadership of Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki for his commitment to including youths in his political agenda.
Also speaking, Comrade Abiodun Segun Ege, the PDP Youth Leader for Ekiti LG, delivered a lecture emphasizing that youth involvement is crucial for progress.
Ege lauded Ilori’s initiative as a confirmation that the aspirant holds the youth at heart.
The event, which was steered by Alhaji Ganiyu Raji Adeshina (Chairman of the Harry Ilori Committee) and anchored by Hon. Tunde Adeyemi (Team Secretary), was described as a significant milestone in Ilori’s political ambition.
On her part, Honourable Buki Abel, Former Speaker Ekiti LG in her remarks commended Honourable Harry for the recognition shows for the women, noting that the summit is an eye opener and an indicator that the aspirant holds the women in high esteem.
It concluded with a vote of thanks from Engr. Ojo Opeyemi Samson, who pledged continued support for the aspirant’s mission of unity and progress.
