Late Adebayo Family Distances Self from Archbishop Amao’s Funeral Remarks

The family of the late Chief C.O. Adebayo has issued a press release to publicly distance themselves from the comments made by Archbishop Amao during the burial service held last Saturday.

The family categorically stated that the Archbishop’s remarks, which reportedly touched on political or critical issues, do not reflect our views and were made without our knowledge or endorsement.

The statement obtained by 9japarrot media emphasized the character of the late patriarch, asserting,

“Our father was a man of peace who respected authority, and it was unfortunate that his funeral was used as a platform for such remarks. Those remarks did not reflect his values.”

The family clarified in the statement signed by Bukunola Ajayi (Adebayo) on behalf of the family that the content of the bishop’s message was not known to any family member beforehand, nor was he selected by the family to officiate or preach at the service.

“We deeply regret any discomfort caused to His Excellency, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, and reaffirm our respect and appreciation for the support extended to our family during the burial ceremony.” the statement added.

The press release strongly refuted any malicious intent behind the selection of the clergy. “Any suggestion that the preacher was chosen to undermine the government is entirely false and malicious,” the family stated.

“We remain committed to maintaining a cordial relationship with the Kwara State Government.” the statement concluded.
