The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the promotion and appointment of over 400 senior police officers across various ranks in the Nigeria Police Force.
The promotions, according to a statement signed by Ikechukwu Ani, Head of Press and Public Relations, were part of the decisions reached during the Commission’s second plenary meeting held at the Solomon Arase Conference Hall in Abuja on Thursday.
According to the statement, the meeting was chaired by the PSC Chairman, retired Deputy Inspector General of Police, Hashimu Argungu.
Among the key decisions, the Commission approved the appointment of AIG Dankwara Adamu Mohammed as Deputy Inspector General of Police to represent the North-East geopolitical zone.
He replaces retired DIG Sahabu Abubakar Yahaya.
It also promoted CP Abibo Deinma Reuben to the rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police, while eleven Deputy Commissioners of Police were elevated to the substantive rank of Commissioners of Police.
The newly promoted Commissioners include Naziru Bello Kankarofi, Nendel Joseph Gomwalk, Tijani Olaiwola Fatai, Wilson Aniefiok Akpan, Morkwap Dongshal, and Abdullateef Ajape Yusuf. Others are Cletus Nwadiogbu, Ahmed Mohammed Bello, Abdulraheem Nurudeen, Patrick Daaor, and Umar Mohammed Hadejia.
In addition, thirteen Assistant Commissioners of Police were promoted to Deputy Commissioners, while forty-four Chief Superintendents of Police were elevated to Assistant Commissioners.
The Commission also approved the promotion of 412 Superintendents of Police to Chief Superintendents.
Chairman of the Commission, DIG Argungu (rtd), congratulated the newly promoted officers and urged them to justify their elevation through renewed dedication and professionalism.
