••• Chairman Yakubu Redefines Grassroots Loyalty with Surprise Car Gift to Party Chairwoman
The political landscape of Kwara South Senatorial District witnessed a major mobilization on Wednesday, November 12, 2025, as the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Irepodun Local Government Area (LGA) organized a massive Mega Prayer Session for Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, coupled with a crucial Voters Registration Sensitization drive.
The event, which was also a sensitization campaign for voters registration, was hailed as a powerful demonstration of loyalty, unity, and confidence in the Governor’s leadership, driven by the commitment of the workaholic Local Government Chairman, Hon. Abdulazeez Yakubu Tinuola.
Speaking during his opening remarks, Hon. Felix Awodiji, Development Officer for Irepodun Local Government who doubles as the Chairman Planning Committee, expressed gratitude for the huge turnout.
He noted that planning for such historic gathering hasn’t been busy but with the help of dedicated members who are resolute to ensure the success of the gathering has made the gathering realistic.
In their separate goodwill messages, APC Chieftain, Hon. Prince Olanrewaju Shuaib (Sofab) and Maj. Gen. Abidoye Olayemi Lasisi (Rtd) lauded the event as a key strategic way in uniting the party and those in power for the shared prosperity of the people and the betterment of the local government.
They acknowledged the good work of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and the achievements of Chairman Tinuola as commendable.
The State Party Vice Chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Samari, during his remarks reiterated the Governor’s influence, noting that the Chairman’s laudable achievements in under two years confirmed he is a good product of the party who’s keenly following the footsteps of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
He charged the council to not relent in their pursuit of delivering good governance to the people while urging them to make best use of the opportunity to mobilise people to register for the voters registration ahead of the 2027 general election.
The highlight of the event, which brought an emotional moment to the hall, was the surprise presentation of a brand new car to the APC Chairperson of Irepodun Local Government, Hon. Rasheedat Kazeem, by the Local Government Chairman, Hon. Abdulazeez Yakubu.
The gesture, described as a powerful demonstration of appreciation for dedication and loyalty, was performed by the Governor’s representative, the Deputy Chief of Staff, Princess Bukola Babalola.
Oloro of Oro Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Oba Joel Olaniyi Oyatoye Titiloye Olufayo II while officiating the showering of royal blessings during the presentation also offered royal prayers for both the donor and the recipient.
The gathering which also had in attendance religious leaders, various political groups including the ENACT Team, Olaoye Team, LAF, Sardauna Ngeri Women Movement Irepodun, Olushola Youth Vanguard, among others confirmed the political maturity and interfaith harmony of Kwara State.
The traditional institution where represented by revered monarchs including the Oloro of Oro Kingdom, the Elesie of Esie, the Alaran of Aran-Orin, and the Onijan of Ijan-Otun, among others.
As part of the main session of the gathering, joint prayers were offered for the Governor and the state by the Council of Imams led by the (Chief Imam of Omu-Aran, Sheikh Alalobo and the Chief Imam of Oro, Alhaji Dr. Sanusi Taofeeq Olamilekan) and the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Irepodun Chapter (led by Rev. Jelayo Oluwa Segun).
Adding a clear political undertone to the gathering, Team ENACT, under the leadership of Engr. Nurudeen Adeyemi, showcased its strength by unveiling the ‘Irepodun 4 Senate 2027 cap’.
The unique cap, worn by large numbers of supporters, signaled early mobilization efforts for the next general election.
The event also witnessed the presentation of several awards to Hon. Abdulazeez in recognition of his service, humility, and leadership, including from the management staff (presented by the DPM) and the APC Ward Chairmen, who described him as a unifying force.
In his lecture, the Guest Speaker, Sheikh Umar Faruq Babatunde (Sohibul Bayan) commended Hon. Yakubu for mirroring the Governor’s visionary leadership and loyalty at the grassroots.
The spiritual leader also charged political office holders to sit up and always do the right thing by ensuring people enjoy the dividends of democracy, noting that lack of proper delivery by leaders always have a negative impact on the prospect of any community.
Speaking on Voters Card Sensitization, Hon. Yetunde Ogunyemi highlighted the importance of voters registration as a crucial initial step in actively participating in the democratic process and ensuring that one’s voice is heard.
She urged all attendees to swing into action and ensure they enroll for the ongoing voters registration to enable them perform their franchise in the forthcoming election.
