The political community of Kwara South Senatorial District has been thrown into mourning following the sudden passing of a renowned grassroots politician and an illustrious son of the district, Otunba Ganiyu Zubair.
The deceased was a former House of Representatives candidate under the platform of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Kwara State.
The death of the respected figure was announced in a terse statement released by Engr. Tunde Fadipe, the immediate past Transition Implementation Committee (TIC) Chairman of Isin Local Government Area.
The mournful message, sighted by 9japarrot media, reads:
“This is a personal loss. May his soul rest in peace. Otunba Ganzy, Adieu.”
According to a reliable source, the deceased was at the Jabi Park in Abuja earlier this morning where he was playing table tennis before he collapsed.
He added that all efforts to revived him proves abortive as he passed on immediately.
“His Janaiza comes up at the National Mosque after Asr prayer and he will be buried in Abuja this afternoon, the source added.
Otunba Ganiyu Zubair Ganzy was widely recognized for his dedication to grassroots politics and his contributions to the political discourse in Kwara South. He was the Chairman of the Table Tennis Club at the Jabi Recreation Park and will be missed greatly.
