The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman Governing Council of the Federal University of Health Sciences, Ila-Orangun (FUHSI), and a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Wale Sulaiman, CON has called for calm following the tragic attack and kidnapping of worshippers during a church service in Eruku, Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State.
Prof. Sulaiman described the incident as a heartbreaking assault on humanity and a grave challenge to the unity, integrity, and sovereignty of the state and the nation. He appealed to residents of Eruku and neighbouring communities to remain calm, avoid taking the law into their own hands, and continue to cooperate with community vigilantes, security agencies, and the state government as efforts intensify to apprehend the perpetrators.
“This act of violence is a painful blow to our collective peace and security. We must work together to confront this monster of kidnapping and insecurity without political sentiments or division, “This is not the right time to play politics, our nation is bleeding and we need to heal together,” he said.
Prof. Sulaiman commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his swift response, including the cancellation of his official trip to Johannesburg, South Africa, Luanda, Angola, and his immediate call for a national security briefing on the kidnapped schoolgirls in Kebbi and the attack on Christ Apostolic Church worshippers in Eruku.
He also commended the Kwara State Government under His Excellency, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, CON, for its sustained collaboration with the Federal Government, noting that recent efforts have yielded results in parts of Ifelodun and would, in due time, help restore peace across the state.
“We have only one state and one country. Just as we fought COVID-19 together, we must unite again to defeat insecurity. This is a shared responsibility,” he added.
Prof. Sulaiman prayed for the repose of the souls of those who lost their lives in the attack and comfort for their families and the entire community.
