The Orji Uzor Kalu (OUK) Foundation, in partnership with Frantino Multipurpose Service Limited, SunBet, and Xpressride, has flagged off its “Back to School” initiative targeting 100 primary schools across Abia North Senatorial District.
Designed to strengthen basic education and tackle illiteracy, the programme is providing pupils with essential learning materials including school bags, notebooks, pens, pencils and other writing supplies.
Speaking at the launch, Executive Secretary of the Foundation, Mr Ekeoma Ogwo, said the initiative aligns with the organization’s core mission of empowering Nigerians through quality education, agriculture, healthcare and humanitarian intervention.
He explained that beyond distributing materials, the programme seeks to create a safer and more conducive learning environment while reinforcing the Foundation’s long-term commitment to educational development in the region.
Schools already visited include Igbere Central School, Lohum Imenyi Central School, Township School Ozuakoli, Ovim Community School, Umuhu Ezechi Community School in Bende, and several others.
Beneficiaries who spoke during the distribution expressed profound gratitude to the Founder of the former, Sen. Orji Uzor Kalu, pledging renewed dedication to their studies.
They noted that the five-day outreach has eased the financial burden on their parents and strengthened the bond between the Foundation, pupils and teachers.
Beyond education, the Orji Uzor Kalu Foundation is simultaneously rolling out interventions in healthcare, agriculture and business support across Abia North, demonstrating its holistic approach to community development.
