Insecurity: Kwara Govt Orders Temporary School Closure, Deploys Enhanced Security in Five LGAs

The Kwara State Government has ordered the temporary suspension of normal school activities across five Local Government Areas (LGAs) to introduce enhanced security measures aimed at protecting pupils from criminal activities.

The affected LGAs are Ifelodun, Ekiti, Irepodun, Isin, and Oke Ero.

According to a statement signed by the Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Dr. Lawal Olohungbebe and obtained by 9japarrot media, the decision reflects the government’s determination to proactively curb the activities of kidnappers who may attempt to use schoolchildren as human shields while fleeing intensified security operations.

Dr. Olohungbebe confirmed that boarding schools located specifically in Irepodun LGA have been placed under special watch due to their elevated potential vulnerability.

The Commissioner emphasized that these are temporary measures and will remain in place pending further security clearance, after which normal school activities will resume.

9japarrot report that the swift implementation of these security protocols follows increased public pressure on the state government to address the worsening security situation in communities across Kwara South.
