Senator Orji Uzor Kalu, representing Abia North Senatorial District, has commended President Bola Tinubu for canceling his scheduled foreign trips in light of the recent kidnappings by terrorists in northern Nigeria. Senator Kalu praised Tinubu for prioritizing national security and taking a fatherly role in addressing the pressing issue of insecurity in the country.
In a statement released to the press, Senator Kalu expressed his gratitude to Tinubu for his decision to cancel his foreign trips, recognizing the gravity of the situation and the need for leaders to focus on addressing the security challenges facing the nation. He further highlighted the impact of the insecurity on political activities, noting that even a governor’s planned defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC) had to be postponed due to the same security concerns.
“President Bola Tinubu has exhibited true leadership by canceling his foreign trips and prioritizing the security of our nation. His decision has shown a fatherly role in addressing the current security challenges facing our country,” Senator Kalu stated.
The senator emphasized the need for all political leaders to come together and prioritize national security over personal and political interests. He called for unity and collaboration in addressing the root causes of insecurity, including poverty, unemployment, and lack of opportunities for the youth.
“National security should be the top priority for all leaders, regardless of political affiliations. We must set aside our differences and work together to find lasting solutions to the insecurity plaguing our nation,” Senator Kalu urged.
He also urged President Tinubu to continue demonstrating strong leadership in addressing the security challenges, emphasizing the importance of proactive measures to safeguard the lives and property of all Nigerians.
“The recent wave of kidnappings and insecurity in northern Nigeria is a wake-up call for all of us. President Bola Tinubu has set an example by canceling his foreign trips and focusing on the urgent security situation. I commend him for his decision and urge him to continue playing a pivotal role in addressing the insecurity facing our nation,” Senator Kalu added.
