Orji Uzor Kalu Foundation Announces Full Sponsorship for 2026 Igbere Festival

The Orji Uzor Kalu Foundation, an initiative powered by the Distinguished Senator representing Abia North Senatorial District, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu has officially announced its full sponsorship and dates for the grand 2026 Igbere Cultural Festival.

The annual festival, which aims to promote ‘Sustainable History through Cultural Revival,’ is set to hold on Friday, January 2nd, and Saturday, January 3rd, 2026.

Confirming this development through an official notice signed by Rev. Mrs. Jemaimah Ola Kalu, Vice President of the Orji Uzor Kalu Foundation International and received by 9japarrot media, the event will also showcase the rich cultural identity and unity of the 13 autonomous communities of Igbere in Bende Local Government Area, Abia State, while calling for mass preparation.

The two-day festival will see cultural displays and traditional activities hosted across the autonomous communities on specific dates as follows;

* Friday, January 2nd: Activities will hold in Agbo, Eziama, Amaukwu, Amakpo, Ibinanta, Amankalu, and Amaofufe communities.
* Saturday, January 3rd: Activities will shift to Ibina Ukwu, Umuisi, Okafia, Ohum Amaorji, and Amaiyi communities.

The foundation in the notice, urged all autonomous communities to commence full preparations for the historic celebration, ensuring the annual event serves as a showcase of Igbere’s strength, values, and collective pride.

9japarrot report that the festival, which features traditional ceremonies, dances, and competitions, is regarded as a key event for social interaction, fostering peace, and preserving the ancestral roots of the Igbere people.
