••• Insists APC Constitution Doesn’t Support Zoning

The Kwara South Integrity Group a partisan group under the All Progressive Congress (APC) has launched a stern rebuttal against the Kwara 4 Kwara North Movement (K4KNM), dismissing their calls for zoning the 2027 All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship ticket to Kwara North.
Confirming this development in a Press Conference held on Friday, the Convener, Comrade Segun David Buoye maintained that the gubernatorial candidate for the 2027 election must be decided through a democratic party primary, not by media propaganda, pressure groups, or back-room endorsements.
The group countered the K4KNM’s reliance on zoning, stating unequivocally that it is not a part of the APC governance process.
“APC as a party does not recognize zoning in the selection of its candidates. This is not our personal opinion, it is the Constitution that all genuine party members affirm,” the group said.
The group rejected the use of the 2023 presidential election as a justification for zoning, arguing that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu won the ticket not because of zoning, but because of his massive national support, deep structure, popularity, and political capacity.

Addressing the recent dialogue where some traditional rulers from Kwara South appeared to endorse the North’s agitation, Comrade Segun Buoye issued a strong caution against dragging royalty into partisan politics.
He emphasized that traditional rulers are fathers to all, whose constitutional role is for cultural and moral guidance, not partisan endorsement.
The group asserted that the endorsement by a few monarchs does not represent the political will of Kwara South, calling it disrespectful to present such endorsements as binding on an entire geopolitical zone of millions of citizens.
The group also challenged the K4KNM for allegedly attempting to link their political agitation to the pressing security challenges in the region, describing the narrative as weak and divisive, stressing that the security crisis requires a focused, coordinated response and not zoning propaganda.
“Security challenges in Kwara South are real, painful, and urgent. To assume that insecurity can be solved through zoning propaganda is irresponsible,” Convener said, referencing the recent kidnapping of the King of Bayagan.
They added that Kwara South is fully ready to produce the next Governor, basing their demand on; competent individuals and years of political experience, Strong structures across the state, Proven leadership capacity, among other qualities.

Comrade Segun Buoye offered his genuine advice to the K4KNM to allow their aspirant to test their popularity rather than hiding behind endorsements, reiterating that the political contest in 2027 will ultimately be decided by the people.
