
Barely 24hrs after a medical doctor was arrested by operatives of the Department of State Services for transporting medical supplies from Sokoto State to kidnapping gangs operating in Kwara State, the Police have arrested an arms courier along Gbugbu/Patigi road in Kwara state.
A Police patrol team attached to the Lafiaji Area Command in Edu Local Government Area of Kwara state in the early hours of Friday arrested a suspected arms courier and recovered 100 rounds of live AK47 live ammunition.
The Police at about 07:30 hrs on Friday during a routine stop and search operation along Gbugbu/Patigi road intercepted a Toyota Corolla with registration EP 434 ABC, containing 100 rounds of live AK-47 ammunition concealed among personal effects, along with various charms.
The vehicle driven by Owolaramfe Rafiu had four other occupants; Musa Mohammed, Adam Alhaji Lawal, and
Musa Shaibu have all been arrested.
A coordinated effort is underway to identify and apprehend the intended
receiver of the ammunition. The suspects remain in custody.
