One Feared Dead, 2 Injured as Fire Razes Residential Building in Ibadan

One person has lost her life as a result of fire that ravaged a residential building in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

Our correspondent gathered that two other people were rescued during the incident.

The incident occured at Agbaakin street, behind testing ground in Iwo Road area of Ibadan.

It was learnt that one person died as a result of the incident while two people were rescued alive in the incident.

It was learnt that the fire was as a result of lighted charcoal cooking pot unattended to that ignited nearby combustible materials.

Chairman, Oyo State Fire Service, Hon Maroof Akinwande confirmed the incident.

He said that the incident occurred Monday evening.

He maintained that the operation was successfully carried out with the support of men of Federal Fire Service.

Akinwande in a statement made available to DAILY POST Tuesday evening said, “The fire emergency was received at exactly 20:18hrs on Monday 8th December, 2025.

“On getting there, it was two rooms at the upper floor of a private residential building of twelve rooms engulfed by fire.

“One person (female) was recovered while two persons (males) rescued alive. The fire also affected only two rooms and the whole building and other properties worth millions of naira were saved by the officers of the Agency.

“The fire incident was as a result of lighted charcoal cooking pot unattended to ignited nearby combustible materials. The operation was jointly carried out with Federal Fire Service, Ibadan Command.”
