Ilorin came alive on 16 December 2025 as youths from all six geo-political zones of Kwara State converged to celebrate Hon. Muktar Tolani Shagaya, Member representing Ilorin West/Asa Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, on the occasion of his birthday.
The gathering, notable for its diversity, drew participants from across political affiliations and apolitical youth leaders. Organised by Hon. Shagaya’s Media Team and coordinated by Shehu Suleiman Kayode, the event doubled as a civic forum where participants openly assessed the lawmaker’s performance, applauding his achievements while offering candid reflections on areas for further growth.
Speaking at the forum, Comrade Issa Ayobami Abdulmutolib (Megabyte) described Hon. Shagaya as a symbol of generational change in governance. He noted that as the youngest representative from Kwara Central since 1999, Shagaya has redefined leadership through active participation and visible engagement in legislative affairs, proving that age is no barrier to effective representation.
Echoing this view, Comrade Abdul Fatai AbdulMajeed praised the lawmaker’s humility and consistency in delivering democratic dividends to his constituents. He described Hon. Shagaya as a source of pride for the youth constituency and urged him to sustain his current trajectory.

For Comrade Tajudeen Habeebullah Omotosho (Tallest), Hon. Shagaya represents the ideal of true representation. He highlighted the legislator’s strong connection with young people and the broader society, describing his accessibility and responsiveness as rare qualities in public office.
Offering a reflective analysis, Human Rights Activist, Comrade Saliu Bolakale (CB) likened leadership to a competitive football match where criticism is inevitable. He emphasised that constructive criticism should be embraced as a tool for growth, adding that Hon. Shagaya has shown the maturity to rise above distractions while remaining focused on service.
Mallam AbdulAzeez AbdulRazaq (Advocate), in his remarks, offered prayers for the lawmaker and urged constituents to remain fair and supportive of leaders who demonstrate genuine commitment. He described Hon. Shagaya as well-suited for the role and encouraged continued public backing.
Similarly, Ambassador Abdullateef Olalekan Sikirullah praised Hon. Shagaya’s humility, simplicity, and attentiveness to constituents, noting that his strong connection with young people reflects a clear understanding of his mandate.
In brief goodwill messages, Hon. Yusuf Mutiu Olaitan, Special Legislative Aide to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, described the celebrant as inspiring, while Hon. Moshood Beki referred to him as humility personified. Comrade Alabi Isaac Adesina (zYco) lauded his A-level representation, and AbdulKareem Yusuf (AbouAA) commended his purposeful service, even beyond his constituency.
The event concluded with a shared consensus that the wide-ranging participation and honest reflections from youths across Kwara State underscore Hon. Muktar Tolani Shagaya’s growing stature as a responsive legislator, youth-focused leader, and committed public servant.
