••• Medical Experts Laud ADU for Sustaining Life-Saving Programme as Group Secures Cataract Surgeries for Beneficiaries

The Agbamu Descendants Union (ADU) has successfully organized its 8th Annual Free Medical Outreach, providing essential and often expensive healthcare services to residents of Agbamu and surrounding communities in Kwara State.
The programme, held at the General Hospital Agbamu on Saturday offered a wide array of free services, including: eye screening and free eyeglasses distribution, general body health checks, blood pressure screening, drug dispensation, and Prostate Screening tests.
Medical experts and organizers lauded ADU for its consistency and the palpable difference the initiative makes in the lives of the beneficiaries who often cannot afford such care.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Yusuf Abbas, a medical expert, commended ADU for sustaining the initiative over the years, noting that the consistent annual increase in the number of beneficiaries demonstrates the growing impact and relevance of the outreach.
He expressed gratitude to the sponsors for their all time support and loyalty in ensuring the program always yields a positive impact on the people of the community.
On her part, Adeoti Esther, the Nurse in charge of medical cards and registration, disclosed that the outreach has been ongoing for seven years with increasing patronage annually, adding that the population of beneficiaries this year was overwhelming as people from Agbamu and environs turned up en masse.
Dr. Azeez Amuda Olayinka, a community optician nurse who has been involved with the outreach since 2021, provided specialized insight into the programme’s eye care success acknowledging that Agbamu is a notable community for him which he appreciates the youth for their focus and insights.
“I’ve been coming out since 2021 during the COVID-19 pandemic period, and I’ve been coming every year. Each year, they put in more effort into the activities.” He said .
“We started with little glass, about 25 or 30. Today, we are distributing about 100 glasses, which is a very progressive situation for the organizers and to the benefit of people in the community.” He added.
Dr. Olayinka revealed that this year they told him to look for Cataract patients, at least five that they can operate.
He added that the people that are donating for the program should thank God that they are not having a reward on this earth alone. Their reward is in heaven.
He passionately appreciated the youth of Agbamu, like Hon. Adeyemi Josiah and Hon. Adebola Opadere Olaitan , who sacrificed their time and resources to organize the event, noted that he chose to attend the Agbamu outreach over four other activities in his own community.
On her part, Mrs. Adebola Opadere Olaitan , a medical team leader, appreciated the people for coming out in large numbers to benefit. Nurse Adeoti Esther also thanked the donors, healthcare workers, and volunteers for their continuous support.
On their part, ADU Medical Team coordinated by Hon. Adeyemi Josiah extended appreciation to all the donors who supported the outreach in cash and kind.

The beneficiaries, in turn, expressed deep gratitude to the donors, doctors, nurses, and organisers, offering prayers for God’s blessings upon everyone involved in coordinating the life-touching initiative while calling for more people to key in to the project to ensure a more bigger version come 2026.
