Armed Forces Remembrance Day: Sen Sadiq Honours Fallen Heroes, Salutes Serving Personnel

Senator Sadiq Suleiman Umar (3SU), representing Kwara North Senatorial District, has paid glowing tribute to Nigeria’s fallen heroes as the nation marks the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day, describing their sacrifice as the bedrock of Nigeria’s unity, peace, and sovereignty.

Senator Sadiq iterated that the Armed Forces Remembrance Day offers Nigerians a solemn opportunity to reflect on the courage, patriotism, and selflessness of officers and men of the Armed Forces who laid down their lives in defence of the nation.

“Our fallen heroes paid the ultimate price so that Nigeria may stand united and secure. Their bravery, dedication, and unwavering commitment to duty must never be forgotten. Today, we honour their memories and recommit ourselves to the ideals they stood for,” the Senator stated.

The Lawmaker also commended serving military personnel for their resilience and sacrifices in safeguarding the country against security threats, noting that their continued dedication remains critical to national stability and development.

He stressed the need for sustained support for the Armed Forces through improved welfare, modern equipment, and policies that enhance their operational effectiveness, while also caring for the families of fallen heroes.

The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Trade and Investment further urged Nigerians to use the occasion to promote peace, unity, and mutual respect, emphasizing that national security is a shared responsibility beyond the Armed Forces alone.

He prayed for the repose of the souls of departed heroes and expressed hope for a more peaceful and prosperous Nigeria built on the foundations of sacrifice, justice, and collective progress.
