2027: Ekiti LG Stakeholders Endorse Senator Ashiru for Governor

Stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State have reaffirmed their commitment to party unity, internal democracy, and strategic preparedness ahead of the 2027 general elections, while throwing their weight behind Senator Yisa Oyelola Ashiru as a credible governorship candidate.

The resolutions were reached at a Consultative Engagement of APC stakeholders from Ekiti Local Government, held at the Intercontinental Harmony Hotel, Ilorin, under the theme “Building Consensus, Ensuring Equity, and Strengthening APC’s Electoral Readiness for 2027.”

Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Otunba Taiwo Joseph, on behalf of the stakeholders stressed that unity, mutual respect, and coordinated political action remain critical to the political advancement of Ekiti Local Government and the wider Kwara South Senatorial District.

Otunba Taiwo expressed strong confidence in the APC’s chances in the 2027 general  elections, noting that sustained adherence to inclusiveness, transparency, and internal democracy would further strengthen the party’s dominance in the state.

He also appealed to the national leadership of the APC and Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, to address what they described as the longstanding marginalisation of Ekiti Local Government within the Ekiti/Oke-Ero/Isin/Irepodun Federal Constituency. They called for fairness by allowing Ekiti Local Government the opportunity to produce a member of the House of Representatives.

On the 2027 governorship race, the stakeholders emphasized the need for a candidate with proven experience, competence, and capacity to deliver good governance. In this regard, they expressed strong support for Senator Oyelola Yisa Ashiru, the Deputy Senate Leader, citing his legislative pedigree, leadership qualities, and commitment to the development of Kwara State.

The meeting encouraged all qualified and capable APC members from Ekiti Local Government to actively participate in the electoral process by seeking elective offices, particularly the Federal Constituency seat, while reiterating that the governorship ticket remains open to aspirants from all senatorial districts.

They reaffirmed their loyalty to the APC, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, pledging continued grassroots mobilisation and disciplined political engagement to consolidate the party’s strength in Kwara South.

The meeting expressed sympathy with communities in Ekiti Local Government affected by recent cases of banditry and insecurity, calling on relevant authorities to intensify security operations to restore peace, safeguard lives and property, and support economic activities across the region.
