Ifelodun LG Chair, Femi Yusuf Presents ₦11.28bn 2026 Budget Focused on Security, Welfare, Infrastructure

The Executive Chairman of Ifelodun Local Government, Hadji Abdulrasheed Femi Yusuf, has presented the 2026 Budget Proposal to the Ifelodun Legislative Council, with strong emphasis on community security, welfare support, and infrastructure development.

Presenting the appropriation bill during a plenary session of the council, the Chairman explained that the budget, tagged budget of Community Security, Welfare and Infrastructure Support, was designed in response to the realities facing communities across the local government.

“This budget is guided by the realities on ground and by our collective responsibility to protect lives, improve welfare, and sustain development across all communities in Ifelodun,” the Chairman said.

He acknowledged the security challenges recently experienced in parts of the local government, adding that the impact on residents had informed key policy and spending decisions in the 2026 fiscal plan.

“We are fully aware of the security breaches that have affected some of our communities. These incidents have disrupted lives, livelihoods, and the sense of safety of our people, and as a government closest to the grassroots, we have taken these concerns seriously,” he stated.

The Chairman assured the Speaker and members of the Legislative Council that the proposed budget makes deliberate provisions to strengthen community security infrastructure and provide welfare support for those affected through social amenities and targeted recovery efforts.

“No community and no individual affected by these challenges will be ignored,” he assured.

Reflecting on the achievements of his administration, The Chairman said that over the past years, the local government has successfully executed more than 90 projects across various communities.

According to him, the projects include solar-powered boreholes, grading of rural roads, construction and renovation of classrooms, full repairs of tractors to support agriculture, installation of solar street lights, and other community-based interventions aimed at improving living conditions and security.

Looking ahead to 2026, the Chairman disclosed that one of the signature projects of the new fiscal year is the establishment of a 400-capacity Computer-Based Test (CBT) centre to support students and improve access to digital examination facilities.

“This project is aimed at supporting education, digital inclusion, and youth development, so that our students can participate in national examinations without unnecessary hardship,” he said.

He further disclosed that the total proposed budget for the 2026 fiscal year stands at ₦11,287,422,975, covering both capital and recurrent expenditures. The budget prioritises education, health, security, welfare, agriculture, economic services, and effective administration.

According to the breakdown, education is allocated ₦3,008,400,000, health ₦2,185,700,000, other social services ₦232,000,000, agriculture ₦176,500,000, other economic services ₦4,339,772,975, while administration is allocated ₦1,345,050,000.

He concluded by calling on the Legislative Council to give the proposal timely consideration and approval to enable prompt implementation for the benefit of residents across the local government.

The Chairman was accompanied by the Secretary to the Local Government, Dr. Kamil Akorede; DPM, Mallam Ayinde Ganiyu Salmon; Chief of Staff to the Chairman, Chief Ademola Zubair; Supervisory Councillor for Works, Hon. Kolo Rebecca; the Supervisory Councillor for Health, Hon. Taiwo Babatunde Michael; Supervisory Councillor for Agriculture, Hon. Abdulrasheed Asejere; Supervisory Councillor for Education, Hon. Taiye Johnson, as well as heads of departments and other top officials of the local government.
