Senator Sadiq Visits Woro Community; Reaffirms Commitment to Peace, Support, Rebuilding

Senator Sadiq Suleiman Umar, representing Kwara North Senatorial District, on Sunday, 8th February 2026, visited Woro community in Kaiama Local Government Area to personally assess the extent of damage caused by recent attacks and to commiserate with affected families and community members.

The visit formed part of the Senator’s sustained efforts to empathise with his constituents, engage community leaders, and support ongoing recovery and security interventions. During the visit, Senator Sadiq interacted extensively with residents and local leaders, offering heartfelt condolences to families who lost loved ones and reaffirming his solidarity with the communities at this difficult time.

Senator Sadiq met the Emir of Kaiama, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Muazu Shehu Omar, alongside Chiefs from various communities. He also visited burial sites of the victims and toured locations where properties and livelihoods suffered varying degrees of destruction.

In furtherance of coordinated response efforts, the Senator engaged officials of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and military officers overseeing Operation Savannah Shield, deployed on the directive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR to ensure the safe resettlement of the people and to secure the region.

Reiterating the commitments of the Federal Government and the Kwara State Government, led by His Excellency Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, CON, Senator Sadiq assured residents that efforts to restore peace, security, and normalcy would be sustained. He pledged to intensify follow-up actions to ensure that promised interventions and support reach the affected communities promptly.

As part of immediate relief measures, the Senator provided palliatives and cash support to victims of the attacks. He urged residents to remain hopeful, vigilant, and cooperative, particularly by sharing timely information with security agencies to aid the Armed Forces in safeguarding lives and property.

Senator Sadiq Umar’s visit to Woro underscores his unwavering commitment to the welfare of the people of Kwara North, as he continues to collaborate with relevant authorities to ensure relief, recovery, and lasting peace for affected communities.

In further demonstration of his sustained commitment, the Lawmaker had earlier visited survivors of the attacks receiving medical care at the Kwara State University Teaching Hospital, Ilorin, where he sympathized with the injured victims, encouraged them, and offered support to ease their recovery.

The Village Head of Woro, Alhaji Umar Bio Salihu, in his remarks commended Senator Sadiq Suleiman Umar and his team for the visit to the community to assess the extent of destruction caused by the barbaric attack. He expressed deep appreciation for the Senator’s timely intervention, solidarity, and support extended to the people of Woro during this difficult period of mourning, noting that the visit has brought reassurance to the affected families and the community.

The Senator during the visit expressed deep appreciation to the Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, the Kwara State Government led by Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, CON, and all Nigerians who have stood by the people of Woro, Nuku, and Kaiama Local Government Area. He called for the sustenance of this support and urged citizens to intensify prayers for the full restoration of peace across Kwara North and Kwara State at large.
