
The Deputy Senate Leader and Senator representing Kwara South senatorial district, Arc Oyelola Ashiru has called for stronger border security across Kwara State.
Senator Ashiru made this call while addressing the executive members of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) at his Offa residence during the weekend.
He condemned the killings of innocent residents by suspected terrorists in Kaiama and other parts of the state.

The Deputy Senate Leader pointed out that the effective management of border communities could play a crucial role in reducing crime and ensuring peace in the state.
According to him, the first and most important step is to spread prosperity across these areas,.
The Senator noted that properly secured and economically empowered border regions would act as a strong deterrent to criminal activity.
Ashiru advocated for coordinated efforts between Kwara, Kogi, and Niger states to invest in the welfare and development of their border regions, particularly the communities of Eruku and Koro, which lie along state boundaries.
