By Ranmilowo Ojalumo

Former Abia State governor and Senator representing Abia North, Orji Uzor Kalu, has called on Nigerians to use the occasion of Valentine’s Day to promote national unity, compassion, and collective responsibility toward building a stronger country.

In a Valentine’s Day message shared on his social media platforms on Saturday, the lawmaker described the celebration as more than an expression of affection among families and friends, stressing that it should also reflect love for community and country.

Kalu noted that Nigeria stands at a critical point in its national journey, adding that genuine love expressed through patience, understanding, sacrifice, and shared responsibility remains the most powerful force capable of transforming the nation.

According to him, Nigeria’s diversity should be seen as a source of strength rather than division, urging citizens across regions to embrace dialogue and peaceful coexistence. He emphasized that Nigerians, regardless of ethnic or religious differences, are united by a common destiny and must work together to achieve peace, security, and prosperity.

The senator further encouraged citizens to demonstrate patriotism by supporting one another, uplifting the less privileged, and contributing positively within their various spheres of influence.

He added that acts of kindness, no matter how small, play a vital role in building the nation Nigerians aspire to see.

Kalu expressed hope that the celebration would bring joy to homes, strengthen communities through compassion, and inspire renewed commitment to unity and national progress.

He also prayed for continued peace and blessings for the Federal Republic of Nigeria as citizens mark the global celebration of love.

February 14 is a global day set aside for celebration of love.
