ASUP-FPA Hails FG, Ekiti Senators on Expansion of Ado–Ijan-Ikare Road

••• Appreciates Governor Oyebanji for Construction of Ring Road

The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti Chapter has applauded  the Federal Government and the three Senators representing Ekiti State: Michael Opeyemi Bamidele (Central),Yemi Adaramodu (South) and Cyril Fasuyi (North) on the ongoing expansion of Ado-Ijan-Ikare Road.

ASUP-FPA in a statement jointly signed by the Chairman, Engr. Caleb Adeosun and Publicity Secretary, Oyewale Oyelola on Thursday, appreciated efforts of the three Ekiti Senators in facilitating expansion of major access road to the Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti which has been in deplorable state for many years.

The Union particularly praised the Senate Leader, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele who gave assurance to the Polytechnic Community in 2024 on plan of President Bola Tinubu administration to rehabilitate and expand the road.

The statement reads in part: “ASUP-FPA appreciates the efforts of the three Senators representing Ekiti State at the National Assembly who amplified our concerns over the deplorable state of Polytechnic road. Particularly, we appreciate Senator Opeyemi Bamidele who invited Union Leaders to a meeting at his Constituency Office in March 2024 after staging protest over the deplorable state of Ado-Ijan-Ikare road.

“Our Union do not only agitate or criticise. As a progressive minded Union, we also applaud government when we deem it fit. The Union appreciate the Ekiti Senators for the ongoing expansion work. We know their efforts led to the development and steady progress on the road”.

ASUP-FPA urged the Senators to continue to perform their oversight functions and ensure delivery of quality work by the Contractor handling the project.

Similarly, the Union praised the Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji for Construction of Ring road linking Ijan-Afao-Iworoko.


According to them, the ring road is a great relief to staffers of Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti because it has reduced traffic on Poly road and  travel time.

The Union used the opportunity to appreciate the Founder of Afe Babalola University, Aare Afe Babalola for consistently using his resources to carry out palliative rehabilitation on the road over the years.
