The Blue Cap Movement (Ajumose) has extended a message of solidarity, spiritual rebirth, and unity to all residents of Kwara South and the state at large as the global Muslim and Christian communities embark on the sacred seasons of Ramadan and Lent.
In a statement released on Thursday, the group’s co-founder, Abdulrasheed Seleke, described the rare convergence of these two holy periods as a divine signal for Nigerians to bridge divides and embrace the spirit of Ajumose (Collective Action).
The movement noted that the simultaneous observance of fasting by both faiths, Ramadan having commenced on Wednesday, February 18, and Lent on Ash Wednesday, offers a unique opportunity for Kwarans to reflect on their shared humanity and the values of sacrifice and self-discipline.
“The fact that both the crescent moon of Ramadan and the ashes of Lent have appeared on our calendar at the same time is no coincidence. It is a call for us to synchronize our prayers for the peace and prosperity of Kwara South. As we abstain from physical nourishment, let us nourish our souls with the virtues of empathy and tolerance.” He said.
The Blue Cap Movement, renowned for its advocacy for grassroots empowerment and security, urged both Muslim and Christian faithful to dedicate their periods of supplication to the challenges facing the region.
The group called for prayers, seeking divine protection for communities against the surge of banditry and kidnapping while supplicating for the Governor and traditional institutions to continue steering the state toward inclusive development.
Reaffirming the movement’s core ideology, Seleke emphasized that the spiritual lessons of these seasons charity to the less privileged and communal love align perfectly with the Ajumose philosophy.
“Fasting is not merely about hunger; it is a purification of the heart. If we can carry the discipline of these forty and thirty days into our political and social interactions, we will build a Kwara South where progress is a shared experience and not a selective privilege,” the statement added.
