••• Veteran Actor, Pa Peter Fatomilola, Party Stakeholders Backs Bid
The Chief James Owolabi Memorial Hall (Osi Town Hall) was filled to capacity on Sunday as Otunba Adewumi Olaiya Olusegun officially declared his intention to represent the Ekiti State Constituency in the Kwara State House of Assembly under the All Progressives Congress (APC) come 2027.
The declaration, described by community members as record-breaking, drew an unprecedented crowd of party faithful, traditional enthusiasts, and high-profile supporters, signaling a major shift in Ekiti LGA politics ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Addressing the massive turnout, Otunba Olaiya expressed profound gratitude for what he termed a marvelous show of support, tying his optimistic outlook to the performance of the ruling party at the state and national level.
He said his vision for a progressive Ekiti LGA Constituency through adequate lobbying and sponsoring of bills that’ll have lasting impact on the people is the reason why he has decided to throw the ring in to the field by joining the race.
“The success of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s #RenewedHope mandate is our yardstick. His administration has delivered on campaign promises through people-oriented projects. With this unified force in Ekiti LGA, the 2027 election will be a walkover for the APC.” He added.
A major highlight of the event was the presence of the revered Nigerian veteran actor and playwright, Pa Peter Fatomilola who graced the declaration programme.
The legendary dramatist speaking during the event urged the people of Osi and Ekiti LGA to unite behind Otunba Olaiya, assuring them that his representation would bring no regrets.
“Let us join hands together to put him there. We will never regret having him represent us at the Kwara State House of Assembly.” He said.
On his part, Elder Statesman, Alhaji Bello Olaiya Igwe in his remarks noted that Osi has never witnessed such a massive political gathering, describing Otunba Olaiya as a true born son of the soil who is committed to bring progress to the Constituency.
APC Osi Ward 2 Chairman, Hon. Apole Felix who spoke during the gathering also emphasized the rare unity between the two wards in Osi, noting that the aspirant knows what they lack and knows what we need while urging people to support him.
Speaking with our reporter, a participant, Olawale Samuel Gabriel (Ola Gold), praised the aspirant’s interpersonal relationships and long-term commitment to the party’s success.
Another participant, Kareem Maryam, a party member from Osi Ward 2, told 9japarrot reporters that the Local Government had been waiting for a personality of Otunba Olaiya’s caliber to step forward.
He is the leader we have been looking for, she noted amidst prayers for his success.
