Asa LG Chairman, Alhaji Shehu Amasa Sacks Five Council Members over Disrepute

The Executive Chairman of Asa Local Government Council, Alhaji Shehu Yahaya Amasa, has announced the immediate removal of five top-ranking members of his executive cabinet.

The decision, which was made public on Thursday in a statement made available to 9japarrot media.

The Chairman cited the need to protect the integrity of the council, stating that the affected officials were removed for actions that brought the name of the local government into disrepute.


According to the statement, the officials removed are; Hon. Abdulrasaq Olarewaju Jimoh – Supervisor for Works, Land, and Housing, Hon. Abdulraheem Muhammed Elere – Supervisor for Health and Medical Services, Muhammed Nuhu – Special Adviser on Education, Yusuf Tope Mahmud – Special Adviser on Special Duties and Muritala Sodiq Tiro – Special Adviser on Youths.

Alhaji Amasa, who was sworn into office in late 2024 with a mandate to deliver transparent and accountable governance, emphasized that his administration remains committed to the highest standards of public service.

While the specific details of the “disrepute” were not fully disclosed in the initial statement, the Chairman made it clear that the sackings take immediate effect.

He further directed the affected individuals to hand over all council properties in their possession to the appropriate authorities.
