•• 5th Edition of Akinola Cup to Feature Teams Across 7 Local Governments in Kwara South

The Aare Akeweje of Oro Kingdom and Chairman of the Oyebola Aniyaloye Foundation, Chief Engr. Paul Okikidayo Akinola has officially announced the appointment of Yusuph Muideen Oladele as the Chairman of the Organizing Committee for the Akinola Cup Football Competition 2026.
This development was confirmed in a statement made available to 9japarrot media on Sunday through his Personal Assistant, Sulaimon Kehinde (Guba).
The upcoming tournament, which marks the 5th Edition of the prestigious competition, specifically for Public Secondary Schools across Kwara South is set to be a major sporting highlight for the region, involving participation from football teams across the seven Local Government Areas that constitute Kwara South.
The appointment of Mr. Yusuph is seen as a strategic move to bring professional management and grassroots experience to the tournament. A graduate with a B.Ed in Educational Management, Yusuph currently serves as both the Headmaster and Sports Master at the Muslim Nursery and Primary School, Okeola Oro.
His pedigree in football administration is well-established, having previously served as a two-time committee member of the Oloro Cup, a background that ensures he brings seasoned expertise in managing local sports logistics and talent discovery.
9japarrot reports that the Akinola Cup has grown to become a cornerstone of youth engagement and talent scouting in Kwara State. This year’s edition aims to further strengthen the bond between the various communities in Kwara South through healthy competition.
The participating Local Governments expected to feature in the 2026 edition include; Irepodun, Ifelodun, Offa, Oyun, Isin, Ekiti and Oke-Ero.
Speaking on the appointment, the Oyebola Aniyaloye Foundation emphasized that Yusuph’s background in education and sports mastery aligns perfectly with the foundation’s goal of promoting discipline, teamwork, and excellence among the youth.
With the Chairman now appointed, the committee is expected to release the full tournament schedule, venue details, and registration guidelines for participating teams in the coming weeks.
