The flag-off ceremony, held at the ICT Unit of the Secretariat, reflects the state’s commitment to modernizing the workforce and enhancing service delivery at the grassroots level.
Speaking on behalf of the Executive Governor of Kwara State, His Excellency, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq CON, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Digital Innovation, Hon. Kayode Ishola, highlighted that the project is a cornerstone of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s vision for a tech-driven Kwara. He detailed the phased implementation of the initiative, which began with the installation of stable internet connectivity, followed by the deployment of essential hardware and digital resources.
Addressing the critical need for the intervention, Hon. Ishola pointed out that lack of digital literacy often stifles growth and international collaboration. On the significance of this milestone, he stated:
“It creates a digital identity for the local government. Initiatives like this help position local governments within the global digital space, enhancing documentation, financial tracking, and transparency in governance.”
The 12-week curriculum is designed to be comprehensive, covering vital modules such as cybersecurity, data privacy, and proficiency in Microsoft Office tools. The program aims to create a “knowledge ecosystem” where current trainees will eventually become mentors for others, ensuring long-term sustainability.
Mr. Abiola, representing Ilorin East Local Government Chairman, commended the state’s proactive approach and urged all participants to remain dedicated to the training, noting the immense personal and professional growth opportunities it offers.
We extend our profound gratitude to the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for his dedicated vision and unwavering support for grassroots connectivity. His commitment to ensuring that no local government is left behind in the global digital economy continues to transform Kwara into a leading hub for innovation and inclusive governance.
The event concluded with the formal introduction of facilitators, marking the beginning of a new digital era for Ilorin East Local.
