The political evolution of Kwara South Senatorial District has long been anchored on a delicate but effective balance among its three major blocs—Ekiti, Ibolo, and Igbomina. This informal rotational arrangement has not only preserved unity but has also strengthened trust, inclusion, and democratic stability across the district.
A historical review reveals a consistent pattern: the Ekiti bloc has held the senatorial position for about 12 years, while the Ibolo bloc is concluding its own 12-year tenure. In contrast, the Igbomina bloc, despite its strong population and electoral relevance, has only had a brief representation of about two years. This imbalance presents a critical moment for reflection and responsible correction.
As the district moves toward another electoral cycle, restoring this balance is not merely about fairness; it is about sustaining the unity that binds all blocs together. Justice for Igbomina must go hand-in-hand with continued collaboration with Ekiti and Ibolo. No bloc can stand alone; victory in Kwara South has always been, and will always be, a product of collective effort.
Within the Igbomina bloc, Irepodun Local Government remains a strategic electoral pillar, with Omu-Aran contributing a significant share—nearly 70%—of its voting strength. This positions Omu-Aran as a natural focal point in the search for credible representation.
Among the aspirants, Dr. Kazeem Olayimika Salaam (Alabaja) stands out not only as the most strategic choice for Igbomina but also as a bridge across all blocs. His strength lies not just in his grassroots connection, but in his wide acceptability among Ekiti, Ibolo, and Igbomina alike. His humility, loyalty, and inclusive leadership style make him a unifying figure capable of bringing everyone to the table.
Dr. Kazeem’s political philosophy is rooted in partnership, not division. He recognizes that Ekiti and Ibolo are not just stakeholders, but essential partners in progress. His approach fosters mutual respect, shared benefits, and collective victory—key ingredients for a successful general election.
His deep respect for party stakeholders is evident in his consistent consultations and engagements with key political figures during the conceptualization of his senatorial ambition. This approach reflects maturity, foresight, and a commitment to collective leadership. Moreover, his loyalty to the state leadership and party structure further underscores his readiness for higher responsibility.
Beyond his personal attributes, his actions speak volumes:
For many years, even before entering active politics, he has distributed thousands of food items and cash gifts to support people during Christmas, Sallah, and New Year celebrations across the wards in Kwara South.
During Ramadan, he organized lectures and provided food and cash to thousands. Despite the religious nature of the event, he ensured inclusivity by extending support to Christians as well.
During the recent APC National Convention in Abuja, his exceptional level of care, organization, and hospitality toward those he mobilized—and even others beyond his immediate district—demonstrated genuine compassion and leadership.
In light of these considerations, it is both logical and just to support the emergence of an Igbomina candidate, particularly from Omu-Aran, in the forthcoming election.
Strategically, if the APC is serious about securing victory in Irepodun and extending that success across Isin, Ekiti, and Oke-Ero Local Government Areas, then a candidate from Omu-Aran must be strongly considered. As it stands, the grassroots popularity of Dr. Kazeem Olayimika Salaam Alabaja is both undeniable and unmatched.
For the first time in Igbomina’s political history, there is a strong indication that his appeal transcends party lines. Opinion polls suggest that not only APC members but supporters of other parties are willing to vote for him based on his pedigree, track record, and credibility. He is widely seen as a candidate without blemish—trusted, respected, and deeply loved by the people.
There is a strong belief among the masses that he has the capacity to deliver overwhelming electoral success for the APC in Kwara South. Therefore, I respectfully call on the Governor of Kwara State, party leaders, and all relevant stakeholders to uphold the principles of equity and fairness by supporting Dr. Kazeem Olayimika Salaam Alabaja’s aspiration to represent Kwara South in the Senate.
As the party primaries approach, this decision presents an opportunity not only to correct a longstanding imbalance but also to reinforce justice, inclusion, and democratic integrity within the district.
Conclusively, I urge the Kwara State Governor and other relevant stakeholders to consider the Ekiti bloc for the position of House of Representatives for the sake of fairness, equity, and justice.
IGBOMINA LOKAN!
IREPODUN LOKAN!
