The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, on Saturday, issued a stern warning that his administration will begin impounding and auctioning vehicles belonging to car dealers operating in green areas and parks, as well as transporters engaging in roadside activities.
The Minister, who gave this warning during an inspection tour of Abuja, expressed frustration over the continued non-compliance of roadside transporters with directives from the FCT Administration.
According to him, some Nigerians only respond to firm and drastic government actions, noting that despite multiple warnings, the desired level of compliance has not been achieved.
Speaking further, Wike noted that the administration would adopt a tougher stance, including impounding and auctioning vehicles of repeat offenders, to encourage adherence to the rules.
The FCT Administration recently introduced two key directives: mandating public transporters to use designated bus terminals and prohibiting car dealers from operating in green areas and parks.
