Troops of Operation Enduring Peace have recovered the body of an unidentified person with an apparent gunshot wound in Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State.
Security sources told Zagazola Makama that the body was discovered at about 9:30 p.m. on August 23, 2026, along the Farin Lamba axis, near the Primary Health Centre in Riyom.
Following the report, troops from Sector 6 responded to the scene and found the corpse with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the stomach.
However, security personnel reportedly found no visible bloodstains or spent ammunition casings around the area, raising suspicions that the body may have been transported from another location and dumped at the scene.
The remains were subsequently deposited at the mortuary of the Primary Health Centre in Riyom, while the youth leader of Tahoss Community was contacted to assist in identifying the deceased.
Security personnel have remained in the area as investigations continue to establish the identity of the victim and determine the circumstances surrounding the death.
