Dangote Cement Plc is taking its growth story to global investors with a Capital Markets Day in London, as part of preparations for its proposed secondary listing on the London Stock Exchange.
The company said the event will focus on updating international investors and stakeholders on its strategy, operations, and business priorities, while providing direct engagement with senior management.
According to a statement released on September 2, the London Capital Markets Day is scheduled for September 21, 2026. The move follows shareholder approval secured after the company’s May 12 notice on the planned LSE listing, as Dangote Cement seeks to broaden its investor base beyond Nigeria.
Dangote Cement said the Capital Markets Day will provide investors and other stakeholders with an update on the company’s strategy, operations and business priorities, as well as an opportunity to engage with senior management.
“The CMD will provide investors and other stakeholders with an update on the Company’s strategy, operations and business priorities, as well as an opportunity to engage with the Company’s senior management,” the company stated.
The CMD comes as the company moves to deepen its access to international capital and diversify its investor base ahead of the LSE listing.
The planned secondary listing in London was first disclosed by the president of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote in an interview with the Financial Times.
He said the cement company intends to sell about 10 per cent of its shares to external investors as part of the proposed UK listing.
Dangote Cement had considered a London listing as far back as 2018 but was unable to proceed at the time due to stringent listing requirements and the capital demands of the group’s refinery project in Nigeria.
However, recent changes to the UK’s listing rules by the Financial Conduct Authority have made the London market more attractive to large African issuers.
The move also aligns with Dangote Group’s broader strategy of tapping international and African capital markets to fund expansion across its industrial businesses.
Dangote Cement’s push for an LSE listing comes on the back of strong half-year results. For the six months ended June 30, 2026, the company reported a pre-tax profit of N981.39 billion, up 34.43 per cent from N730.03 billion in the same period of 2025. Profit after tax rose 22.69 per cent to N638.53 billion, while earnings per share increased to N38.22 from N30.74 a year earlier.
With operations across 10 African countries and Nigeria’s biggest cement capacity, Dangote Cement said the London roadshow will position it to attract global institutional investors ahead of what would be one of the biggest cross-border listings by a Nigerian company.
