Vice President Kashim Shettima has described the late former Governor of the defunct Gongola State, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, as a pillar of democracy who contributed immensely to Nigeria’s democratic development.
Shettima stated this in Yola, Adamawa State, when he led a high-powered Federal Government delegation to condole with Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, and the people of the state over the death of the former National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

The Vice President said he was in Yola to convey President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s condolences to the government and people of Adamawa State.
He described the death of the iconic peace builder and the former governor as a great loss not only to Adamawa State but to Nigeria as a whole.

Shettima said President Tinubu had called on the people of Adamawa State and Nigerians in general to emulate the legacies of Bamanga Tukur, whose life, he said, was dedicated to peace, democracy and service to humanity.
Welcoming the Vice President, Governor Fintiri expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for the show of sympathy and solidarity with the people of Adamawa State and the Adamawa Emirate Council.

Shettima and Governor Fintiri later proceeded to the palace of the Lamido Adamawa, Alhaji Dr Muhammadu Barkindo Aliyu Mustapha, where they condoled with the traditional ruler and the Adamawa Emirate Council over the death of Tafida Adamawa, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur.
Responding, the Lamido Adamawa thanked President Tinubu for the condolence visit and for sending the Federal Government delegation to Adamawa State.
The traditional ruler prayed Allah to forgive the shortcomings of the late Tafida Adamawa and grant him Aljannatul Firdausi.
He said the Adamawa Emirate Council appreciated the concern and sympathy shown by President Tinubu and prayed Allah to grant the Federal Government delegation a safe journey back to their respective destinations.
