We Trade Progress, Says Kalu, Others Trade Bitterness — People Can See The Difference

Senator Orji Uzor Kalu representing Abia North says his politics is built on what people can see on the ground, not on quarrels.

“While they trade bitterness, we are trading progress — and the people can see the difference,” Kalu said.

The statement mirrors the direction he gave recently to his media team and supporters ahead of the 2027 contest.

Kalu directed them to stop mentioning or responding to other candidates for the Abia North seat and to focus strictly on his record of representation, legislative performance and infrastructural interventions across the five local government areas in the district.

According to his office, that record includes the construction and renovation of more than 100 school blocks and classrooms, over 70 road projects attracted across Abia North, and distribution of educational materials to pupils.

In Ohafia, during his ward-to-ward tour on October 4, 2026, community leaders said he remains the only lawmaker whose impact has been felt in the area since 2019, pointing to roads they use daily.

Kalu, who chairs the Senate Committee on the South East Development Commission, also said the campaign must remain focused on issues, development and service to the people, without insults or personal attacks.

He maintains that voters in Abia North are capable of assessing every candidate on the basis of verifiable records and capacity to deliver.

The senator, first elected to the Senate in 2019, has in recent weeks also urged APC leaders to leave Abuja and work at the grassroots rather than follow President Bola Tinubu from rally to rally, arguing that elections are won in wards and local governments.
