Officers of the Nigerian Police Force on Friday fired teargas canisters at protesters assembling at the popular Berger roundabout in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
According to a Channels TV correspondent at the location where protesters gathered, journalists covering the procession were not spared, as they were also tear-gassed.
Recall that Nigerians in their hundreds trooped to the streets across the country on Thursday to register their grievances to the government over hardships in the country.
The first day of the nationwide protest which was largely peaceful, however, recorded pockets of issues in some of the country including Kano, Yobe, Borno, Kaduna, Niger and Abuja, which led to the imposition of curfew in three states.
