The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom has elected new state executives, with Elder Aniekan Akpan retained as State Chairman.
The election took place during the party’s congress held on Saturday at the Uyo Township Stadium.
Governor Umo Eno, his deputy, Senator Akon Eyakenyi, and former Governor Udom Emmanuel were present to vote for the new leadership alongside other delegates. The congress was conducted by an electoral committee from Abuja.
In his acceptance speech, Akpan assured that the new leadership would work together to maintain the party’s winning streak in the state and ensure Governor Eno’s re-election in 2027.
The re-elected chairman praised the party’s leader, Governor Eno, for his support and acknowledged the contributions of past leaders. He noted that the party has continued to grow stronger in the state, occupying more seats in the National Assembly and state assembly.
Akpan expressed confidence in the party’s preparedness for the upcoming local government elections and the 2027 governorship election. He thanked the governor for his commitment to the party and the people of Akwa Ibom.
Other elected state officers include Harrison Ekpo (Deputy Chairman), Ibanga Brownson (Secretary), Mmeme Akpabio (Treasurer), and Edwin Ebiese (Publicity Secretary).”
